When California AG Protecting Dirty Cops Irked Murder Victim’s Spouse

As part of exposing the corruption in Orange County’s law enforcement, Paul Wilson published an editorial that forced California’s former Attorney General Xavier Becerra to hold dishonest cops responsible. Wilson lost his spouse ten years ago in one of Orange County’s senseless and worst mass murders.

A judge in California’s superior court ruled that multiple deputies of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department repeatedly lied as witnesses for the controversial ‘People v. Scott Dekraai’ case. Former Orange County District Attorney (DA) Tony Rackauckas refused to press perjury charges for what became known nationwide as the Orange County snitch scandal. By doing so, Rackauckas protected those liars in law enforcement as their lies benefitted his legal prosecutions. Attorney General Becerra, similar to his predecessor from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris, stayed as useless as DA Rackauckas.

In the opinionated article featured on the online OC Register, Wilson described the probe into the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s tactics as fake. Wilson was outraged that several high-ranking officials tolerated corruption in regional law enforcement agencies.

As a pro-law enforcement and pro-prosecutive citizen, Wilson backed the attempt to get the shooter in the mass murders executed for the crimes he committed years ago. However, the case failed for reasons that many found to be unimaginable. Wilson said that those lying deputies of OFSD and the equally-lying people who supervised them hijacked the case. Their case of lying under oath was apparent, even for people who pretended that it was not perjury. Wilson also alleged that DA Rackauckas would not resist the dishonest people, so judge Thomas Goethals removed them from the case.

AG Becerra refused the request of Wilson to see and talk to him about his complaint. Instead, Becerra sent his juniors for the task while refusing to say what action they took in their prolonged investigation.

Becerra stood with Don Barnes and other OSCD officials to pose for the US media as he was planning to bid for OC’s District Attorney election three years ago. Barnes and the others worked hard to protect the Orange County Sheriff’s Department from responsibility. Wilson could not describe how disgusted he felt as Barnes and Becerra played buddies. He said in the article that Becerra was not willing to fight his own law enforcement agency. He argued that the agency was showing pleasure for the fact that no one held it accountable. In the absence of prosecutions of deputies who were not honest, he stated that the pleasure would translate into further cheating and destroyed cases.

At the same time, the blame rested squarely on the shoulders of the law enforcement agency. Once featured in OC Weekly’s cover story, Wilson told the attorney general to appoint an independent counsel for the investigation.

A septuagenarian back in the 2018 election season for Orange County, Rackauckas was seeking the position of District Attorney for his sixth term. However, he lost his bid for the election, and then Todd Spitzer became the DA of OC.
